A comparative study of Bianchi versus right upper transverse approach in infantile hypertrophic pyloric stenosis

Abstract The objective of this study is to compare Bianchi supra umbilical curvilinear incision with a right upper transverse in patients presenting infantile hypertrophic pyloric stenosis (IHPS) terms level difficulty faced during the procedure, operative time, postoperative cosmesis, wound infection and dehiscence. A prospective comparative was conducted at Department Paediatric Surgery, Children’s Hospital, Pakistan Institute Medical Sciences, Islamabad. total duration 1 year from 1st March, 2020 28th February, 2021. anticipated sample minimum 20 cases Group (Bianchi) B (right quadrant incision), i.e. 40 IHPS. All infants up 12 weeks admitted diagnosis IHPS were added study. outcome determined surgery, cosmetic effect after intervention incision. Age gender distribution found equal when compared between groups male preponderance. mean surgery 47.0 min A, as 32.5 B. Similarly, hospital stay slightly longer than (5.3 versus 4.8 days, respectively). while performing greater A. scar detectable all (100.0%) only 2 (10.0%) Wound dehiscence one (5.0%) patient whereas none (0.0%) had it. management can be safely successfully done both technique complications like infections more prevalent significantly associated (100.0 10.0%).
